Our approach at John Moore Associates is Biblical wealth management based on principles articulated in the Bible.
Principle Based Wealth Management
At John Moore Associates, we practice Biblical wealth management. This is a financial planning strategy that is based on principles articulated in the New and Old Testaments. Using the Biblical approach to money is not a matter of religious affiliation, but rather applies a philosophical approach to making financial decisions. There are more than 2,000 passages in the Bible on financial topics, such as managing assets, providing for one’s family, and supporting those in need. As financial advisors, we use these concepts to guide how we conduct business and advise our clients.
People have used the Biblical concepts of wealth management successfully for thousands of years. Past performance is not indicative of future results. Biblical wealth management works because it takes advantage of the Bible’s time-tested wisdom on money. These methods help families be prosperous, make wise decisions with their money, and help others whenever possible.
In 2012, we started tracking the value of the charitable donations that we’ve helped our clients families transfer from their JMA-managed Raymond James accounts to charities. It’s our honor to help our clients maximize the benefits of their gifts. The majority of our families make donations of appreciated investments, which provide tax advantages in addition to the potential tax deduction.
John and Connie Moore started this company in 1997, to ensure that the principles that guide their life also guide their business. We have a long-held belief that our service and advice should be rooted in our values, which are more important than any products or performance. Today our 10 guiding principles still serve as the foundation for how we treat our clients, partners, and communities.
We value honesty above all when working with our clients, our vendors, and each other. Honest interactions are essential to building and maintaining quality relationships. We always tell the truth–even when it’s difficult. For us, there is no other option.
We consistently look for opportunities to exceed our customers’ expectations. Your needs are our first priority. We vow to take ownership of problems until they’re resolved, and to support our client relationships as fully as possible.
We’re guided by our faith, and first accountable to God. We’re also accountable to our families and our clients. We encourage our team members to recognize that each of these groups may take precedent at times, but that we all should ultimately strive for a family-work balance.
We recognize that our industry, the markets and our lives are always changing. We strive to be flexible and consider new ways to solve problems. We emphasize that unique situations create opportunities. And we ask ourselves daily: Is there a better way to do this?
We strongly believe that long-term relationships are more important than short-term profit. We want to work and grow with our customers, vendors, and team members. That said, we also want our team members to prioritize their commitment to their families. Because success in the workplace is no substitute for success at home.
We believe that each of us has a responsibility to work in a collaborative, productive way. We promise to resolve disagreements, whether with our own team members, customers, or vendors, quickly and professionally, and to get help when we need it.
We strive to be good citizens and invest our time in projects that benefit the communities we serve. We ask that our team members find a civic endeavor that inspires them and then volunteer to help, and we support our team members in these efforts.
We know that, in addition to time, investing our money in worthy causes can pay big dividends to our communities. We contribute a percentage of our revenue to charities and ministries each year.
We vow to be financially responsible. We will pay our bills promptly. Additionally, we will manage our revenue and expenses to provide job opportunities and security for our team members, as well as value for our shareholders and clients.
We will model Judeo-Christian ethics. We’ll make sure to walk our talk, knowing that our actions speak louder than our words.
Every investor’s situation is unique and you should consider your investment goals, risk tolerance and time horizon before making any investment. Investing involves risk and you may incur a profit or loss regardless of strategy selected.
